Ralph, it doesn’t have an adjustable ground balance, but it should still do okay (for single frequency) detector in wet, salty sand. It’s not designed as a salt beach hunter but on vacation it did well. In the dry stuff it kicks butt!

Does anyone know if the delta 4000 works as well under water. I’m thinking about purchasing one but I would like to have one that I can use on the beach.

I purchased my tek-4000 from a company called Finger-Hut, paid a total of $363.00, I’ve had a cheaper metal det. before, but this one tells me how deep to go to find my treasures. Frist time was last weekend, Found a hose end, and some pull caps. Still looking for me pot of gold…

I’d like to read more comments on the Delta 4000, Compare it to others as well. I too have been looking at the gold bug pro after having a white’s MXT (learning curve way over my head). Now Teknetics looks to have every thing I need, with a more appropriate price. Having fun doing what you enjoy, with a machine that can help you.

I purchased the Delta 4000 brandnew @ Academy Sports & Outdoors marked down from
459.00 to 249.00 so I jumped on it just knowing that the cheapest price I had found prior to this was 349.00
I will use it this weekend.

Their were 2 left @ that price located off Dallas Toll in Plano Tx
worth a check.

I recently ordered the Delta 4000. It will be my first metal detector. I looked at Garrett and Bounty Hunter specs, but for the money the Delta looked like the best deal. After reading this review, I’m thinking a made the right choice!

I have owned metal detectors since about 1976. Have a Teknetics Mark III that has worked great for 26 years, but decided due to age to get a lighter new Teknetics. Ordered a Delta from KellyCo, but was on back order! Review sounds like I made a good choice…can’t wait to get it…like a kid waiting for Christmas!
