Your really going to love this detector. I just bought the 11′ DD optional coil for 100$ new on the bay and wow its impressive..even without the 11 coil the oem 10 inch is beast all by itself.
Out of all the detectors on the market this one is the very best as far as quality and performance and price. cant beat it. First coin was 1871 indian head penny. The other day I found a gold cob coin. I have found lots of coins so far in my few searches but I just wanted to say that as of April 2012 this detector is still the bomb.

Well crap, I’m sitting here trying to decide between the O-8 and a ProPointer or the 0-8 with the 11″ coil… I had JUST about decided on the ProPointer until reading your write up.

Hi i have just sent my omega 8000 back to U.S. under warrentee, owned it for twelve months and from the word go it was very splattery in sound on our $2 and $1 zinc coins as i have only used it six times in the twele months and never used it for 4 months and put fresh batteries in only to find the lcd has dissapeareard of the face of the detector, has any one else had this problems with these machines, i used my discovery 3300 because of the splattery sound in the onmega, the discovery out performed it hands down. regards pat would like to hear if any one else has experienced these problems. ps. still waiting to hear from the warrentee repair people in the us as they have not made any contact with me since returning the detector and coil. i own about 10 detectors and this is the first detector that i have owned that is faulty, and how long does it take for a warrentee repair job from the texas instrument company .?

The Omega continues to gather followers! It’s one of those detectors that is still being discovered by coin hunters…and identified as deceptively deep.

I just recieved my Omega, read alot of reviews, and searched all I could before buying it. After reading the above, I feel I made a good choice. Just sold my XLT E series and Vaquero a few months back and am ready to try again.

Truly an excellent detector .The only negative thing I have noticed is that the depth read out is inaccurate .Seems to like 2″ when the depth can be much greater .

Ive owned sevral machines over the years XLT ,1260, Soverign GT and its like this detector was made just for me the only other detctor I own is a dedicated water unit.

I got my Omega last night, went to a local park and found 7 modern pennies and a silver charm! This detector is awesome I am still new to the hobby I am not clear on the ground balancing part of the detector anyone have any advice? and how important is it to balance it?
