I was in the beginning stages of doing an article about the cost to our hobby of the cheap knockoff machines.  What I found, though, is that its almost impossible to tell them from the real deal without taking them apart...they plagiarize that good these days!My conclusion was...buy from legit dealers and other hobby members you trust.  We need to kill the market for the copies so its not worth producing them.  Another cost is to the companies who sink YEARS of sweat and money into developing new technologies only to have a greedy Chinese company steal the entire design and cheaply produce it, cutting the originators to the quick... not good for our hobby!I personally believe in supporting the companies who fight to be innovative and do cool stuff...and I don't like thieves!  Costs more? (maybe...maybe not) but it rewards the hobby.Current victims are Teknetics, Fisher, White's, Garrett and Minelab... and us.
