    • I am close to buying my first Porsche and my brain keeps going back and forth, so I thought I would ask people who already own one. I have been looking at a 2016 Macan with around 70,000 kilometers, and the price is good enough that I keep asking myself what the catch is. The seller is friendly and says the car has never had any gearbox trouble. On my test drive it felt smooth in most situations, but I noticed one small hard shift when going from second to third gear at low speed. I mentioned it and he just laughed and said all dual clutch cars do that sometimes. Maybe he is right, but I did not feel fully comfortable. When I got home I started reading about how these gearboxes work, and I opened a page about Porsche cars on a Sharjah website to learn what the common weak points are and what a service history should show. It explained that oil changes and software updates matter a lot, and that a car with no paper records can be a bigger risk than one with a higher mileage and full records. That changed how I look at the whole deal. A friend who works in a car showroom told me that before paying anything I should visit an Expert Porsche gearbox service near Industrial Area 11 and ask them to do a proper check on the car, because he says an agency inspection costs a lot and a good independent workshop can do a scan and a test drive for less. I like that idea, but I do not know if the seller will allow it. My questions are these. Should I ask the seller for a gearbox check before I pay a deposit, and is it normal for sellers to say yes? What exactly should a scan report show, like clutch wear numbers or stored fault codes? Also, is one hard shift on a test drive a reason to walk away, or can it be fixed with a simple oil service? And how much money should I keep aside for gearbox problems in the first year, just in case? If you bought a used Macan, Cayenne or 911 and had gearbox surprises later, please tell me what happened and what you wish you had checked first. Thanks a lot.
