Still good you are getting out – be awhile yet for us. When the time comes I usually get tuned up by hitting some ball parks for clad before I head back into the old places. The ball parks thaw out a little sooner because the sun gets to them. The old places in the woods will often hold snow until end of April or middle of May.
I think I shared this on one of the sites. I was working a local park and some youngsters came to watch. I dug a penny and gave it to them. I came back the next day and they had went back to every filled hole and redug them looking for more coins. :'( By then the plug had dried and even though I refilled the holes they still showed pretty bad. Lucky I didn't lose this spot 😀
I tell you, the bad recovery folks are really hurting us! Leaving holes is NOT COOL!
I have a friend that is maintenance super for the school system here and so far his grounds are open to me. Would just take one slob and I could lose a whole bunch of nice spots. The town square is still open also but I think that will be changing - so it goes
I had one park where the ranger let me hit the water even during the season but she retired. Another nearby park, the girl came out during a rain storm while the beach was empty and told me the beach is closed to detecting until Labor Day.0 I was the only person within a mile but she said the rules are the rules :'( I had driven about 30 miles to hit this park because I figured no one would care on such a stormy day - shows you what I know 😀
Take it from an old timer – it is good to have a small job to keep you active. About your battery check - I have noticed that quite often my battery will look good at the check but just a short time later will be almost dead. Seems like the gauge reads good but any load quickly drains it. I usually carry a spare if I am going very far Glad to see you on here again - we need someone to find and post just to keep us snowed in ones happy 😀
Thanks, tink! That is truly art! Do you do different flies for different season to match the type of bugs flying around?
Yeah Mark - but for now these little cress bugs are for the limestones that don't feeze. The trout don't move around much so you have to drift a natural looking nymph so it almost bumps them on the nose. Dry flies that float have to match the hatch a little closer. For you - a bass or beam fly just has to be of an attractive color and show a little action. More later maybe
