Hey Guitarman – Mark and I have both used the Explorers so if you want some hints just post your questions. I jumped from the XS to the SE but they are pretty much alike.

Hey Guitarman – welcome to the site. Lets encourage more action here. It was good to see you on the beach. That was a nice looking cross you posted.

WOW! Sorry to hear that Ian. Some of the younger guys will wonder how that could happen but they will come to the day when tying shoes takes some planning. Hope you heal up in good shape. It has taken me 3 wks to get my beach legs this year – probably be in shape to detect about the time to go home  :'(    So far haven't found any bling but getting some fresh air. Keep us posted

Slow here also Ian. Maybe 3.00 in clad for the first 4 days. Only on the beach about 2 hr a day. Trying to get my old body in to shape  ??? I thought after the major beach erosion there would be more targets but so far no go. Good to be out here though.

Sounds like you are having fun  8)  Murpheys Law says what ever can happen will. But Windows 10 is your fault  😛  Been there doing that.

HEY! Hi Ian – good to see you back on here. Hope you found a lot of bling on your trip. We just got to the beach 10/5/15 and I have had one short hunt. Poor old body is out of shape so will have to time myself or pay the price  😛  3 hrs today and am hurting  :'(

Sounds like a plan. I never really got into the test garden type thing. I quite often will hunt the same ground with two or three machines to see how each one works but other than that I pretty much learn on the fly.  I air test every once in a while to check a machine out that I have been using to see if the settings stay the same. Sensitivity will creep on the best of them and of course ground balance can be tricky.  A video would be interesting.  Have fun moving - we have been looking at down sizing but BOY! A lot of changes to do.

Sounds like a plan. When will you be able to drive again? Each state here has different rules for after a stroke so it keeps everyone guessing. God Bless

WAY TO GO! Even if you don't find it is great just to be out and about. It will be the first week of Oct. before we do much hunting. I will be hitting it a little around here but just can't get down to dig right now. Looking forward to sand digging with a long handles scoop  😀  Glad you are feeling well enough to get out there.

In this day and age 7% is big indeed. Can't get that rate of return on most funds anymore.

Sounds like you made a good move to me. We have been on a fixed income for quite a few years and every little bit adds up. We always cashed our finds in to help pay for our trip to the beach every year and have no regrets. Our beach finds lately have been way down but at our age we don't buy much anymore so everything seems to balance out  😀  In my counseling I usually advise someone to wait on their social security as long as they can because the extra money looks a lot bigger in later years than it does at 62 when you are used to a steady paycheck.  I get voted down on this a lot  😛

Sure looks like fun being in a place where you can hunt and find. Hard to find places around here without walking farther than I like to anymore. Thanks for the post.  I'm still trout fishing  ;D

Had a detector friend up here who recently passed away. He had all the stuff for gold but went to North Carolina to hunt.  There are some up here who find traces in some of the mountain streams. No big mother lodes though

Way to go! I always like hearing about returned rings. Thanks for the post.    As for the rest of it - I have been detecting since the mid 60s and still hike into the woods and forget my digger or make other little mistakes that keep me human  😀  I've stop to talk on the beach - turn my detector off - then start hunting without turning it back on. At times I have went quite a ways before I realize why my machine is so quiet. I'm pretty sure others could jump in here and make us feel a little better.
