at #2718Presumably they are made of lightweight iron and steel.Or the special 4W drive buggy costs £50-60,000 for mobility.

at #2641We lost a beautiful day today. It rubs us so much we've decided to hit a city beach tomorrow. Our weather forecaster's never seem to get it right.
at #2701That's the same with us Ian. We go south about 7oo miles but that puts us in the serious beach hunter region. I have to use some old tricks to even find a signal. The new drops are usually pretty well cleaned out by the time we get there. It is a little more interesting up where I live because we have old sites like lumber camps and coal mine towns that still give up some nice finds. Not always a lot of them but enough to keep you looking. Biggest drawback now is my age. I don't stoop as well as I used to :'(
I spread my legs very wide and bend from the waist. 😉 😉The local distillery have taken a lot of good hunting land away from us.Where the original owner's kids would have played as children, and also an old flax mill and drying fields. >:( >:( We no longer have access to these places as security is high all round the distillery. 🙁 🙁What's even worse is their constantly expanding.
at #2639Eileen keeps pressing me to do the tot lots but in order to do them, we have to leave the house at around 2 – 3 or 4 in the morning and it's usually too cold for me.So at the moment we're arguing about what the best thing to do is.I say beaches for the meantime until it warms up a bit.Due to the arguing, we're missing days when we could have been out.Our biggest problem at the moment is wind chill. 🙁 🙁
at #2699Hey Steve,on that particular beach there are only 4-5 others doing it fairly regular. It's a pretty good beach for lack of trash in the winter, occasionally some screw tops, small bits of copper sheeting, and sometimes very rusty pennies some 1/4 inch thick.I mostly hunt in all metal, or sometimes in disc mode at disc 4,also dig targets down to about 18 our coins come in at 25, 36, 46,and 55-61, our £2 coins are 68-69.Silver is supposed to come in at 80-90.But there seems to be an extreme shortage of silver n gold, especially after the start of those gold n silver buying companies who advertise on TV and rip folk off.I also think the beach goers are wising up as they see other detectorists on the beaches. So their not wearing good jewelry on the beach any more.OK, I know there has to be an occasional exception to the rule.Scotland is usually too cold for folks to pose on the beaches. But we always go to Cornwall for our vacations, it's 600 miles south andalways warmer down there coupled with beautiful beaches, and richer beach goers.
at #2637I hear that you guys are suffering some with Polar conditions. It seems there's a big freeze there right now.We hope your all keeping inside and warm until the conditions ease. 🙁 🙁
at #2681Now that was really bad luck tink.I suppose kids will be kids.Ya should be safe enough giving nice kids a few pennies on the beach, because they dig holes in the sand nearly all the time. The moral is ta keep your pennies in the park. ;D ;D
at #2689I couldn't have put better tink.NP was always a good read and interesting stories + pics. 8) 8)
at #2675Ya should get more friendly with the park ranger then.We actually do a beach where the park ranger likes us because we stick to the beach and never leave any trace we were there. There are nice parklands behind the beach, and a couple of idiots decided to dig up the park and left it in a pretty bad state. The ranger was complaining about it and we agreed they were nothing more than vandals, we also told her proper MD'rs wouldn't do that.Consequently we are always most welcome.
at #2684Sounds like your getting fed up doin' all those hours week in week out.But unfortunately, that's what puts bread and jam on the table. That last hunt of the year sounded like a rough one.I'm sure ya didn't deserve damaging the control head on the Minelab, but glad ta hear it was only the batteries on the AT Pro.I bet you're looking forward to April and hopefully it'll give ya some more time ta get out hunting. We've missed you're presence here and all the wee stories and pics.We wish ya a very successful New Year with lots of goodies.
at #2673Are your beaches always open to the public or are there a lot of private areas?
All beaches are open to the public all year round, with the exception of beaches where they have built caravan sites behind the beach and made it really difficult to get access, they pretend to own the beach.
at #2671This beach is often used as a holiday destination for many English folks who have money to burn. But they don't wear their expensive jewelry unfortunately. It is very rare on this particular beach to find empty beer cans or spirit bottles. At the back of the beach the sand can get as high as the top of the ground level rooms in the houses. There are also a lot of holiday homes there too. (expensive)When we had Glenda (German shepherd / border collie cross)we had plastic overtrousers for walking her in the rain. She really loved woodland walks where there were high ferns and tall grass, it could get really wet. 8) 8)
at #2663As I said before tink,I never make mistakes only small oversights. ;D ;DBut I know what ya mean, even the direction of the wind can make a difference too. ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
at #2667Tremendous skill there tink. They do look superb for the purpose intended.
