  • Yeah I agree with that tink. Many times when I've turned to head back to the car, I've wished I hadn't went so far.Mind you it's not nearly so bad on a nice day, especially if you've been lifting well. ;D ;D

That does look like a very expensive ring.Man, I could survive on the cost of that for the rest of my life.A truly beautiful find Steve.

Well done tink. We've obviously got a bit of catching up to do. 🙂 🙂

We wish ya a warm welcome to detectorstuff.comfrom Scotland. You sound like a very experienced detectorist, and we look forward to seeing some of your finds. 8) 8)

The nearest I've ever come to air testing is when I throw a coin on the ground or in my case the sand and check to make sure it's working.Otherwise never done any air testing.I don't feel it's necessary especially knowing that it tells you nothingabout how it reacts in the real ground conditions.Getting extra depth only comes with experience of one's own detector. But of course that is only my own opinion.

It sure looks nice and peaceful. But not good for detecting.  🙁 🙁If ya think there's more to come,I would suggest stocking up on groceries and stay inside until it all clears away.I hope ya have a good stock of tea or coffee whichever you prefer.Stay warm and safe. 🙂

Thanks again for the kind comments guys.  8) 8)I'm sure you guys will make up for the downtime at the first opportunity.

Hey np,that's a whole load of machines.Readin' between the lines I'd say ya were a very experienced MD'ist.Ya must'a' been at it for a great number of years, and I didn't think ya were old enough, the way ya moved around in that RV and the kayaks too.I salute you M8. ;D ;D

I go along with Ian - actual videos of different detectors used on the beach with their settings. I use the Minelabs so have no problem but often talk with new hunters that get quite frustrated going near the water.  Usually I can tweak their sensitivity to allow them to hunt but they lose a lot of depth.  Some schooling on this might be a big help. Miss Mary uses the Omega but it gets jumpy near the water.

Tell Miss Mary to wear heavier boots.

    That should cure the jumping.

Yep, I forgot ta say video's and settings too. Thanks for reminding me tink.  8) 8)

For me personally Field tests, preferably beach tests both wet and dry.I like to read reviews as well, preferably mid range machines at mid range prices.I'm not really interested in machines such as ctx 3030 or XP Deus, or the new Garrett PI or White's V3i or any other super expensive MD's.Partly because I know I'll never be in the market for any one of them. But that's just me, and I realise that not everyone is in the same mind set.

    Yeah tink,it's a great feeling to find a wee silver.Brightens up one's day no end.I was beginning to think the F70 couldn't pick up silver.I've been digging everything in the 80s for such a long time without any silver results. So it was a good feeling when it finally happened. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)            8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)            8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)            8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)            8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)            8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)            8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Yeah Steve we did have a lot of fun, and I was ecstatic to get that wee silver.

Yep, we both love our F70s. 8) 8)Great detectors, the only down side is no-one in the UK can repair them.I might eventually have to think about gettin' a very cheap used one.To enable us to have the time to send one in for service and repairs.Of course it will be a problem when they are returned as the government will try to get import duty on them.
